Hippocrates said “let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food”, also known as the father of medicine, Hippocrates was a revolutionary leader who is credited with paving the way in the arts of holistic health and wellness. Although he left earth in the physical form around 460 bc his teachings are still honored, respected, and used in modern day alternative medicine. He is credited with performing the first clinical trials that studied people’s health and associated it to behavior and habits. Many of my rules on health stem from his original teachings and techniques including the one on ACV. Hippocrates discovered that ACV was an all natural cure all and healing agent. ACV was used as an antibiotic and antiseptic as it can help fight germs, bacteria, and viruses. You’ll find more on the benefits of ACV below

How will Apple Cider Vinegar Help Me Lose Weight?

Promotes weight loss and increases energy- Energy is a huge proponent in weight loss and ACV contains enzymes that help counteract fatigue. Preventing fatigue is a great way to be more active in your lifestyle and helps to create healthy habits such as exercise. Acv can also help with weight loss as it has a satiety effect which creates the feeling of being full so you do not overeat or over consume calories. Reducing calories and increasing physical activity is the key to weight loss and maintenance

ACV is also a calorie free and fat free food!!!!!! ACV promotes Digestion, regulates PH levels, Removes toxins, and supports a healthy immune system which helps balance and maintain weight!

What are the other benefits of ACV?

Creates Alkalinity within the body- When the body becomes too acidic disease settles in, therefore you must counteract the acidic state with alkaline forming foods and drinks. The body is always working to keep a balance between the two as you need both levels of acidity and alkalinity to perform certain bodily functions. ACV will nourish, hydrate, and create an alkaline environment for the body to thrive in. Although most other vinegars are acid forming, ACV turns alkaline once ingested. Keeping the bodies ph levels balanced with ACV will help keep your energy up and will allow your body to fight off illness and disease.

Reduces Blood Sugar levels- Researchers have found through a study that was conducted on those with type 2 diabetes that subjects benefited by taking 2 tablespoons of ACV before bed. This lowered blood sugar levels by 4-6 %, which was probably due to ACVS anti-glycemic effect. Vinegar has also been touted as a replacement or supplement to several different types of diabetic drugs. Vinegar at bedtime can reduce blood glucose levels in the morning. This reaction indicates that vinegar can promote insulin production. Many prescription drugs on the market are used by diabetics to control insulin production or sensitivity. Be sure that you are consulting with your doctor and checking your insulin levels regularly so that you can adjust your prescription drugs accordingly as ACV will have an effect on glucose levels, but it is unknown how it will affect someone on an individual basis until tested on that individual.

All purpose Cleaner- Vinegar may not be a common cleaning agent now as chemical cleaners have taken over the market but I’m sure your grandmother kept a bottle of vinegar and water in the house as it is a powerful cleaning agent. Although it has a strong smell it can actually neutralize odors. It is safe and effective which is important to me having a young child that touches just about everything. It is even said to be effective against salmonella and E. coli which can be deadly if contracted.

Aides in Gut health- There is a growing importance in the area of gut health and it is something that is on everyone’s minds these days. We know that our gut is our second brain and controls many functions within the body. Keeping your gut healthy and full of beneficial microbes and bacteria will ensure proper digestion, weight maintenance, and aids in the control of disease and other ailments. Consuming ACV can help alleviate digestive ailments such as acid reflux and heartburn. Acid reflux is actually a condition that occurs when there is too little acid in the stomach, acv will help to regulate those levels. Not all acid is created equally, we need a balance between acidity and alkalinity in the body. Good forms of acid such as acetic, isobutryic, lactic, and propionic acid control the growth of bad bacteria. This bad bacteria comes in the form of candida and when this bad bacteria over populates the good bacteria it throws off a lot of processes within the body.

How much ACV should I drink to lose weight?

Everyone is different so you want to be sure you use the right amount of ACV for you. I would start off slowly with 1-2 tspn and work your way up to 1-2 tbsp per 8 ounces of liquid. This will allow your body time to adjust to the acidity in the vinegar, especially if you have a sensitive tummy. The best time to drink ACV is on an empty stomach so first thing in the morning when you wake up and before each meal up to 3x daily. There are many different ways to incorporate ACV into your diet through detox drinks, teas, and even salad dressings. Here are a few of my favorite ways to drink ACV.

8 Oz Warm Water

2 Tbsp Fresh Squeezed Lemon

How I lost weight by drinking ACV

If you have not read my weight loss journey post then please click here. If you have then thank you for following me on my journey to health, wealth, and prosperity. As you know I am not here to provide you with some magic pill or potion. I lost 100 pounds the good old fashion way through proper eating and exercise but I did get some help from Mother Earth as she has provided me and you will all of the things we need in order to survive.

ACV has worked wonders for me as I was healing my gut through this journey. I had spent years pumping myself up with prescription drugs, antibiotics, and junk food so it has taken me years to repair the damage it has caused.

I strongly encourage you to use acv not only for weight loss but as a natural aide in vitality to provide your body with alkalinity and the very acidic world
