About Us 1

The simple reason we created stay sprouted.

The word Sprout means to grow & shoot forth and just like a plant that once started as a seedling we at “stayprouted” believe that growing your knowledge about nutrition, health and wellness,  and developing the simple skills we have designed can help you to put forth a happier, healthier, holistic life.

Staysprouted was born based on an idea that everyone has the ability to grow and change to become the best version of themselves. We focus on nutrition as a key component to health and wellness. We have a whole foods approach which isn’t based on diets and weight loss products but on the ability to use REAL food as fuel.

The type of food you eat can impact 90 % of disease, physical, mental, and emotional. We also believe in a mind body soul connection. Your mind is the most powerful tool you have and in order to get anything right in your life you must first learn to control your mind.

Here is the story of how it all started.

My name is Amanda Prado and 5 years ago I made a decision to take control of my life and stop letting it control me. Like many of my readers and you yourself I was overweight. I was an unhealthy weight of 230 pounds which for my small frame and height of 5 3 was considered obese. I was unhappy and unsatisfied with the way I looked and felt. I tried every diet out there from Atkins to Weight Watchers to extremes like the 3 day diet. I would seemingly lose a few pounds which was probably contributed to water weight or the small dip in calories, but as soon as I went back to my normal eating habits I would gain everything I had lost and more. This left me hopeless and ashamed. I started to accept the fact that I was never going to be what I wanted to be and gave up.

It was just a simple mind shift that changed everything for me.

Something happened though when I stopped looking at weight loss as weight loss. When I decided I wanted to be healthier and not because I wanted to lose weight but because I wanted to feel better the pounds just started melting away. In the past I was so focused on every little pound I wasn’t losing that I didn’t allow myself the time my body needed to restore itself. Most of us don’t become overweight overnight so we are certainly not going to become this fit person in a day and we cannot rush this process. What we end up doing is expecting too much too soon, leaving us disappointed and with no long term results.

100lbs gone in one year!

It took me a little over a year to lose almost 100 pounds and trust me you need to allow your body time to heal and recover. Losing 1 to 2 pounds a week will allow your skin to keep its elasticity as to avoid an excess amount of loose skin. Of course following a regular exercise program can aide in this and is an important component to any lifestyle change.

My life today is amazing!

Today, 5 years later and 1 year postpartum to welcoming a beautiful healthy baby girl I am working towards a new goal to regain my body back after baby. Being a single mom and some new health complications that came with pregnancy has made me aware of just how important my health is once again. Although I am almost to my goal I must always remember maintenance is key to any regime.

My passion, personal experience, and education is what drives me to help others on their journey to wellness. I have a certificate in personal nutrition and am currently in the process of gaining a holistic nutrition degree. I am always expanding my knowledge and researching new exciting ways to stay healthy and eat clean. I welcome you to make this blog your one stop shop for all your health and wellness needs.
